Cortez Burst Triathlon Swim
The swimming portion of the Triathlon is done at the City of Cortez Outdoor Pool. The outdoor pool is located at 803 E Montezuma Ave and is 50m long.
Cortez Burst Triathlon 2013 Bike Route
Adult: Both the Recreational and Competitive course follow the same route to start. The route begins at City Park, heads east on Montezuma Ave and continues north on Mildred Rd/Road 26 to Road M. You'll go west on Road M to Road 25, where you'll continue north. If you are competing in the Competitive (16-mile) Race you will continue on to the Lebanon Cemetery. If you are competing in the Recreational (12-mile) Race you will continue on only to Road P. You'll turn around and follow the same route back to E. Empire St. where you'll turn west. You'll go south onto N. Park St and across Montezuma Ave to the transition area.
Youth: The 3-mile youth route begins in City Park, heads east on Montezuma Ave and continues north on Mildred Rd to Road M. You'll turn around at Road M and follow Mildred Road back to E. Empire St where you'll head west. From there, you'll go south on N. Park St, across Montezuma Ave to the transition area
Child: The 1-mile bike ride will start at the staging area at City Park and go east on Montezuma Ave. to Mildred Rd. You'll follow Mildred Rd. north to E. Empire St. where you'll continue west to N. Park St. You'll follow N. Park St. south, across Montezuma Ave. to the transition area.

Cortez Burst Triathlon 2013 Run Route
Adults: Both the Competitive and Recreational runs will begin at the staging area at City Park. You'll proceed north on the sidewalk on N. Park St., across E. Empire St. to Driscoll St. You'll follow Driscoll St. east to Mildred Rd, where you'll turn north to Cottonwood St. From Cottonwood St. you'll follow the Carpenter Trail on a sidewalk for a ways. The Recreational (3-mile) runner will then cut off to the left on a dirt & rock trail through the sagebrush. The Competitive (4-mile) runners will continue on the paved Carpenter trail almost to the end of the trail, where they will cut off the the right, up a dirt/rock trail. They will complete a dirt loop and end up back where the Recreational runners left the Carpenter Trail. Both classes of runners will end up on Market St. - follow it west to Ridge Dr., and follow Ridge Dr. around to W. Carpenter St. Carpenter St. will lead you to Market St. and you'll follow it south all the way to Montezuma Ave. On Montezuma Ave., you'll run in the grassy median east to the finish line at N. Park and Montezuma Ave.

You'll follow Mildred north to Jackson St. turn around, and then follow it back south to Driscoll St. You'll take Driscoll St. west to N. Park St., and follow it south to the finish line, just across Montezuma Ave.
